Updating Fields for Facebook
When you link to Facebook, the following fields are automatically synced to your pages: Name, Address, Phone, Website, Hours, and Categories.
The following are Facebook-specific fields:
Location Descriptors
Facebook automatically displays a geomodifier called the "Location Descriptor" which appears in parentheses after the location page name. You have two options for how you’d like to power this field:
- Option 1: (Recommended): Facebook will automatically assign descriptors based on address information. This typically defaults to (City, State).
- Option 2: Yext will overwrite this field with the data of your choice (we only recommend this if you have unique geomodifiers such as mall names or neighborhood names).
Usernames
Facebook allows you to set a Username to uniquely identify each location page (e.g., http://www.facebook.com/username).
- Only letters, numbers, and periods are accepted inputs (no slashes, dashes, etc.).
- No two pages can have the same username. If you have multiple locations in the same city, you need to distinguish between them by adding a number or another additional distinguisher (e.g., BrandNameCityST and BrandNameCityST2).
- Our recommendation is to not override existing usernames, as overriding them will cause the previous links to break and any marketing that includes those links would lead the user to an error page.
Call-To-Action Button
Facebook allows you to add a clickable Call-To-Action button to your Facebook location pages. Below is a list of the available CTA buttons:
- Call Now - Phone Number
- Book Now - URL
- Shop Now - URL
- Sign Up - URL
- Contact - URL
- Send Message - Facebook Message
- Use App - URL
- Play Game - URL
- Watch Video - URL
- Send Email - Email Address
- Learn More - URL
