Ungrandfathering Memberships

Memberships become "grandfathered" by Central Office through Market Pricing. A location can "ungrandfather" grandfathered memberships by Membership Type. This means all grandfathered memberships that belong to the selected Membership Type will inherit the current market's pricing, benefit templates, or both, depending on what you select.

What is Membership Grandfathering?

Membership Grandfathering refers to how membership pricing and Member Benefit Templates are handled after a market transfer. Grandfathering allows current members who are no longer in their initial term to continue with their current membership pricing and/or Member Benefit Template after a membership is transferred to a new market. Grandfathering only affects memberships in their renewal term.

Configure Membership Grandfather Settings from Market Pricing's Locations tab to determine membership pricing and Member Benefit Templates for existing members, as well as to define the Member Benefit Template for new members going forward. The prices and Member Benefit Templates can be "grandfathered" ‒ that is, they will remain the same in the new market as they were in the original market ‒ or the prices and Member Benefit Templates can inherit the new market's pricing. Remember, all new client members going forward will pay the new market's prices; "grandfathering" only applies to renewal term memberships in locations whose market is being changed.

To ungrandfather a membership

  1. Ungrandfathering is scheduled by a location via the Membership Type definition. To begin, make sure you are logged into the location where the membership(s) will be ungrandfathered.
  2. Type membershiptypes into the Convobar, or go to Meevo > Membership > Membership Types.
  3. Select the Membership Type of the memberships that you will ungrandfather.
  4. Select the Ungrandfather tab to view the options.
  5. Set active on: This schedules the ungrandfathering; it will take place early in the morning of the date selected here. As with Location Transfers, you can edit this schedule up until the scheduled day. EFTs will not be affected until this scheduled day.
  6. Decide which elements of grandfathered memberships that you wish to ungrandfather. Those memberships will inherit the pricing and/or Member Benefit Template of the current market. To the right of each option is the number of memberships that would be affected by the ungrandfathering.
  7. Benefit Templates: Selecting this option will ungrandfather the Member Benefit Templates for all grandfathered memberships that belong to this Membership Type.
  8. Renewal Pricing: Selecting this option will ungrandfather the pricing for all grandfathered memberships that belong to this Membership Type.
  9. Both Renewal Pricing and Benefit Templates: Selecting this option will ungrandfather pricing and Member Benefit Templates for all memberships that belong to this Membership Type.
  10. When ready, select Schedule Ungrandfathering and select Yes to confirm the scheduled change.
