To add a Gift Card Type

Tip: Use the copy function to quickly create a new data record with similar details to an existing item. First, locate and select the existing item, and then select Copy. Meevo 2 will create a new definition with fields that are identical to the record you just copied. Make changes to the data as needed, and select Save when finished.

  1. From the Gift Card Types search form, select Add New.
  2. Enter a Display Name and Description for the Gift Card Type.
  3. Valid From and Valid Until: The Gift Card Type will be available to sell in the register during this date range.
  4. Expires X weeks after purchase: The expiration date that gets filled in during the sale in the register is based on this setting. If this value is set to zero (0), then the register does not populate an expiration date, though this can be manually entered in the register during time of sale.
  5. Default Price: The price that appears in the register. The Default Price can be less than the Default Value if, for example, you want to offer a discount on this Gift Card Type.
  6. Default Value: The redeemable amount on the gift card. This value can be greater than the Default Price.

Note: The Default Value definition changes if you are creating a promotional gift card. Be sure to read Step 8 below for details.

  1. Select Tax and/or Tips if you wish to Allow the Gift Card to be redeemed towards those costs.

If you do not select Tips or Tax, then upon checkout, the client redeeming the gift card must provide another form of payment, along with the gift card, that covers the full amount of the tip or tax calculated in the transaction.

  1. Promotional use only: Promotional gift cards can only be redeemed one time.
  • Specific Services: If you select a service, the gift card can only be redeemed once, and only towards that particular service.
  • If you do not select a specific service, the Default Value is the maximum redeemable amount. The client can redeem the gift card one time up to its value. If the price of what is being redeemed is more than the Default Value, the client pays the difference. If the price of what is being redeemed is less than the Default Value, the client does not receive the difference as change.
  1. When finished, select Save.
