Deleting or Undeleting a Product Category

Delete a Product Category if you no longer require the Product Category in any capacity, including reporting. When you delete a Product Category:

  • It is no longer selectable from any forms or menus.
  • It does not appear in search results unless Deleted is selected from the Advanced menu.
  • It may still appear in reports depending on the report setup criteria.

Note:To delete or undelete this item, the current location must be its Home Location.

To delete a Product Category

Note: A Product Category cannot be deleted if it is associated with an active product or product bundle. Also note that only the owner (as determined by the Owned By field) of a Product Category can delete it.

  1. Locate the Product Category and select it.
  2. Select Delete. A confirmation message appears.
  3. Select Yes to delete the category.

To undelete a Product Category

Tip: Remember to select Deleted from the Advanced Search menu to search for deleted items. Also remember that only the owner (as determined by the Owned By field) of the item can delete or undelete it.

  1. Locate the Product Category and select it.
  2. On the Product Category's maintenance form, notice that in place of the status switch is the word Deleted.
  3. Select Undelete. The status switch reappears in place of the word Deleted. By default, the switch is set to Inactive.
  4. To reactivate, follow the instructions in To reactivate a Product Category.
