Business Types
To get to Business Types, type businesstype into the Convobar, or go to Meevo > Data > Business Types.
A Business Type is an optional Central Office-only feature that applies a classification to a location, allowing the business to simultaneously manage separate data sets for each type. For example, a Med Spa location would be assigned a different Business Type than a hair salon. In this way, Business Types keep your data sets "clean" by ensuring that unrelated data does not appear at a location (such as a Men's Haircut service appearing in a MedSpa's services list).
Each Business Type can have its own Reporting Hierarchy or Location Group. If you create at least one Business Type, then the Business Type field appears as a required field in data forms in Central Office. Note, however, that for the vast majority of businesses, Business Types are not necessary.
How do Business Types impact my data management?
If you have multiple business models, Business Types are useful for managing data in Central Office. Associating an item with a Business Type determines which locations can access the item. For example, an item that is associated with Business Type: Hair Salon will not be available to locations that are assigned to Business Type: Massage Spa. For details on how to use Business Types to control data management in Meevo, see Managing Data in Central Office.
Note: Newly created locations will inherit all data that is assigned to the new location's Business Type.
Further, from Central Office, a user has access to employee/user profiles that:
- Exist at locations they have access to, or
- Exist at locations with the same Business Type that they are configured for.
Adding a Business Type
- From the Business Types search form, select Add New.
- Enter a Business Type name.
- When finished, select Save.
Deleting or undeleting a Business Type
Note: A Business Type cannot be deleted if an active location is assigned to it.
When you delete a Business Type:
- It is no longer selectable from any Meevo forms or menus.
- It does not appear in Meevo search results unless Deleted is selected from the Advanced menu.
- It may still appear in Meevo reports depending on the report setup criteria.
- If you deleted the item in Central Office, the item becomes deleted in associated locations as well.
- Remember that only the owner (as determined by the Owned By field) of the item can delete or undelete it.
To delete or undelete:
- Locate the Business Type and select it.
- Select Delete. A confirmation message appears.
- Select Yes to delete the Business Type.
